As the prevalence of an alternate world intensifies, words literally shift off of the page into a virtual reality. However, once this extreme realm is rejected, the words return to the page, but without certainty.
This serves as a comparison of the creation of maps in the story to traditional printing techniques being replaced by technological advancements.
